Formerly the University Centre of Guyana, the UG was fully instituted on January 1, 2015. It is the fruit of a major institutional evolution having led the Ministry in charge of higher education and research to give full autonomy to the University Centre of Guyana advance its own development. Based in French Guyana, the training and courses offered respond to the socio-economic challenges facing French Guyana such as tropical health, biodiversity, development of natural resources, interculturality, plurilingualism, social inclusion etc.
The University continues to build and invest in its future. This future is best fostered through the appropriate training for young people as well as the development of partnerships between the University and the socio-economic world.
